Become a member. Support my work. I’ll be forever thankful.
We live in a time where there is seemingly an unlimited amount of information available. Paradoxically we find it harder and harder to find meaning. My goal with this project is to counter this trend, and provide something personal, and hopefully allow others to learn from some of the challenges, failures and successes that I experienced as an independent creative person and traveller.
Thanks to high speed internet and ubiquitous smart phone usage, we are able to make and disseminate information like never before. I believe that going off-platform (leaving things like facebook and instagram behind) is truly the more open and free direction to take. We can take back control over what we make and how we communicate it.
The Random Embassy Club is an experiment in forging those connections, and finding a way to take what I’ve learned through my years travelling and working as an artist and designer and putting into one place, hoping that others will be able to gain new insight or joy from it.
Why should you help?
Producing podcasts, books, magazines, installations and newsletters takes time and costs money. But I’m not looking to make a profit here. Instead I am hoping to partially offset the cost of projects that I believe simply have to exist, while at the same time fostering a small community of people who are interested in the themes that much of my work is centered around
Much of what I make are things that are hard to sell or produce using traditional publishing or advertising models. Or they come in small editions that usually only have a small audience of potential buyers. At the same time I am also interested in making things on alternative digital platforms and getting them out to as wide an audience as possible.
I am personally invested in making work that I feel is important, and producing it in ways that are best supported by small groups of people who also have an interest in seeing such things exist. I’m also very interested in making stronger connections with my audience, and doing that though platforms that are alternatives to Facebook and Instagram. I think things like newsletters and publishing on my own blog (as well as of course, good old zines and other print media) are a great step in this direction.
Does this sound good to you? If so, your support in any format helps me find the time to make all of these projects better. Please consider becoming a member.
